Yellow Ben Dowell July 16th-August, 1st 2008 Yellow is a twelve-day group show conceived by artist Courtney Puckett as a way to connect her work to that of friends and fellow emerging Brooklyn artists Ben Dowell, Pauline Halper, and Katy Krantz. The four artists share a rigorous studio practice of thinking through making and of contemplation through experimentation. Their works together reveal unexpected layered and nuanced affinities. The work is fragile, skeptical of resolution and defies categorization. It asserts itself coolly and confidently; like an unexpected breeze on a hot summer day. Please join us for an opening reception on July 16th from 7-10 pm. Ben Dowell received a BFA from University of Kansas in 2001 and a MFA from Hunter College in 2007. He attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2006. www.bendowell.info Pauline Halper received a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2002 and a MFA from University of Pennsylvania in 2004.
